Search the Beaches for Treasure in Gold Beach

February through April is Beach Treasure Hunt season in Gold Beach. Find a tagged glass float on our beach. Bring it to the Visitor Center to see if you’ve won a prize. There are weekly and monthly prizes. 120 new floats are added to our beaches weekly.

First, make sure you search for the glass floats in the right location. They’re above the high surf line in the driftwood and beach grass. Also, you will only find them from the Rogue River jetty to south of Kissing Rock. That’s almost 3 miles of treasure hunting on our awesome beaches!

Have fun but please, just take one!

In addition to beach hunting, you can shop for your treasure at select Gold Beach stores. Ask the Visitor Center staff for a list of the Treasure Hunt Stores. Between trips of hunting for treasure on the beach you can hunt for hidden treasure in our shops. Shop at one of the stores on the Beach Treasure Hunt map. If you spend at least $25, bring your receipt to the Visitor Center for your own glass float Beach Treasure. The Gold Beach Visitor Center is located at 94080 Shirley Lane, and is open Monday-Sunday 9am-4pm. Call 541-247-7526 for questions.

Go to visitgoldbeach.com for more details.

Three ‘Iron’ Chefs To Face Off For ORCCA

Coos Bay – In a friendly competition, three local chefs will create two different courses using the contents found in an emergency food box for ORCCA’s Iron Chef.  The event will be held 4-7 p.m. Saturday, April 14, at the North Bend Community Center with local brewers on sight offering beverages, live music and raffles.  On drink ticket is included with admission along with appetizers prepared by North Bend High School’s Bulldog Industries.

ORCCA’s Iron Chef event is a benefit to raise awareness and funds for ORCCA programs.  As the largest nonprofit on the South Coast, ORCCA programs work to mitigate the effects of poverty for the region’s most vulnerable individuals. Currently the silent auction items include: Tuna Fishing Trip for four from Fishin’ Trips Charters; a 3-night RV rental from Gib’s RV; Bottom fishing trip for two from Chinook Charters; baskets filled with lots of local items and goodies.  Many more silent auction items are to come.
